I’m Jacquelyn Butler, (but you can call me Jacqui!). I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. I’m a Southern Girl at heart but I love traveling the world and getting to experience the cultures of communities. I have lived lots of places and have moved many times since I left Georgia. (Alabama, New York City, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Arizona). I have enjoyed each new adventure but Arizona truly touched my heart. My husband, Drew Butler, is an NFL Punter and currently a free agent. Drew played 3 seasons for the Arizona Cardinals, and has played for the Steelers, Bears and Lions. So this is year 6 for us in the NFL. I’m currently fully on board with the #WestCoastBestCoast #WestSideBestSide train but excited to see where our next city and team will take us. I love my husband, my dog, journalism, inspirational quotes and all things radiating positivity! Oh, and did I mention the best news yet!? My hubby & I are expecting our first child in May! I am pregnant with our baby girl 🙂
I graduated from The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Information Sciences. I loved being a journalism major and I knew that was the path I always wanted to go down since I was a little girl. (Although I randomly wanted to be a dolphin trainer for a moment in 7th grade.)
I have had my dream jobs working at NBC in New York City. I worked at the TODAY Show for one year and also was an NBC Page for one year. In addition, I held some awesome internships along the way at NBC in NYC and the NBC affiliate in Atlanta.
I left New York for love (aka ending long distance with Drew) and looking to find a balanced life between love and work. I have still been searching for that balance until now and am really excited to share my passion and love for journalism, media, healthy living, travel, positivity, and football all in one forum!
WHY DO I WANT TO CREATE THIS blog
& WEB SERIES?
I’ve been having the best time getting to explore the awe-inspiring state of Arizona, hiking, soaking up the beauty, traveling, visiting lots of local spots, immersing myself in the community, doing community service, spending QT with my hubby, and being the best doggie mommy I can be. But I’ve felt like a piece of me was missing. My work. I worked extremely hard in journalism school and at NBC and want to continue to reach towards my goals. I am so excited to be creating Off The Field and having you follow along!
I also truly feel that positivity and excitement is missing from so many who are just looking for a little inspiration. I’m here to help you feel that inspo! I want to inspire you to be your happiest self, live your fullest life, go after your dreams, travel the world, and be well.
