Drew and I are celebrating our 3 year anniversary on March 1 and we would like to share 3 lessons we’ve learned in our 3 years of marriage! You’ve already watched the video version of these lessons right?! If not, watch it here.
I’m writing this post because I’d like to go more in depth with y’all.
1. be each other’s biggest cheerleader
This might sound like the most obvious thing ever. But living this piece of advice to its fullest potential day in and day out – – despite all the outside noise and negativity that can affect and effect you and/or your loved one is huge and very important!! I literally am Drew’s #1 cheerleader when he’s on the field and I surely am his #1 cheerleader on a daily basis off the field too.
2. marriage is 100/100 not 50/50
You’ve probably heard multiple times marriage is 50/50. Because together you both make a whole and you each provide 50% of the relationship, yadda yadda yadda. Why would you want to give half a** effort to one of (if not the most) important aspects of your life. Each of you should give your relationship 100% EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Give it your all and you will be much happier!
3. a marriage rarely has 2 strong people at the same time
You might be surprised by this one. Let me explain. Like I said in the video, if you are a goal-getter couple and love to go after big dreams together, you will hit dead ends, hit walls and temporarily lose motivation. DON’T EVER GIVE UP!! (But that’s another story). At some point you both will feel defeated or down, but at different points. That’s normal. You’ve been through a lot. But luckily you have your other half there to cheer you up, pump you with extra positivity, extra love, extra faith, extra enthusiasm, and whatever you need. And you will certainly return the favor to them when they need it.
“a strong marriage rarely has two strong people at the same time. it is a husband and wife who take turns being strong for each other in the moments when the other feels weak.” – ashley willis
